Virginia Ruth Fagan Lyon, age 77, of Knoxville, after a lifetime of service to her Lord, passed away Tuesday June 11, 2013.
She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Baptist Church. She was a loving Pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother and prayer warrior. Many called her “Mama Ruth.” She was active in Baptist Church denominational work all her life.
She was preceded in death by son, Chief Keith Lyon; mother, Isabell Beck; brother, Jack Beck; brother-in-law, Leland L. Lyon; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Lee and Lucille Lyon.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Rev. Lynn Gale Lyon; Sons: Chief Bernie Lyon and wife, Wendy, Rev. Leland Lyon and wife, Janet, all of Knoxville, Dr. Tony Lyon, of Venice, FL; Grandchildren: Taylor Lyon, James Lyon and wife, Heather, Janice Hill and husband, Jay, John Lyon, Lacy Lyon and Joy Lyon; Great grandchildren: Jayden and Jayvion Hill, Tyler and Adrienne Lyon; sister: Donna Ford and husband, Bill, of Unicoi, brothers-in-law: Dana Lyon and wife, Georgia, Kenneth Lyon and wife, Donna, Steve Lyon and wife, Jane, all of Johnson City, Bobby Lyon and wife, Stephanie, of Stockton, CA; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Shepherd of the Hills Baptist Church with Services at 8:00 P.M. with Rev. Leland Lyon officiating.
Family and friends will meet at Trentville Cemetery at 10:45 A.M. Saturday for interment at 11:00 A.M. Pallbearers: Roger Sexton, James Hammond, John Hopkins, Darrel Leach, David Amburn, David Henderson.
